Brentford are ‘in negotiations’ with FC Cincinnati over forward Brandon Vázquez after he was offered to them.

That’s according to journalist Fernando Esquivel, who has backed up reports from England that Brentford are eyeing the 25-year-old in the January transfer window.

Reports earlier this month indicated that Brentford were looking at a deal for Vázquez as they look to bolster their squad in January to cover for a series of injuries, namely the one to Bryan Mbuemo.

Vázquez had reportedly come onto their radar after impressing in America this year, bagging 17 goals and two assists in 40 games in the 2022/23 season.

Esquivel now backs that up and states that Brentford are ‘in negotiations’ for the forward after he ‘was offered’ to them.

He stated that Esquivel is ‘very liked’ by the Bees’ scouts, and he is keen on the move as his ‘desire is to emigrate’ to European football at this point in his career. The possibility of a move to Mexico ‘is not even touched’ by him or his entourage as an option.

Instead, his management are now working on the possible move to England, which it appears is very much a possibility in the coming weeks.

Now, we’ll have to take Esquivel’s information with a pinch of salt as he is quite literally echoing what the Telegraph have already said.

But it should be noted he is well connected when it comes to Mexican football and Vázquez has been heavily linked with a move there too, so his information is presumably coming from there.

Either way, Brentford are seemingly moving to get a deal wrapped up and secure a much-needed addition to Thomas Frank’s injury hit squad.
