Brentford coach Brian Riemer is leaving the club to take up the manager’s position at Anderlecht instead.
That’s according to De Standaard, who report that the Brentford man has been signed as Felice Mazzu’s replacement at the Belgian club.
They report that Anderlecht have been on the hunt for a new manager since sacking Mazzu towards the end of October.
Dutchman Robin Veldman has been filling the role on a temporary basis during the search for a new permanent appointment, and that has now been achieved.
The Brussels club have moved to sign Riemer from Brentford, scooping up Thomas Frank’s assistant manager as CEO of Sports Jesper Fredberg’s first appointment at the club.
The move to Belgium is the latest in a varied career for Riemer, who has worked as a technical coach at Norwich, and been manager at Hvidovre and Copenhagen’s U19’s before joining Brentford in October 2018.
He’s since played a key role alongside Frank as the Bees secured promotion from the Championship and established themselves in the Premier League.
His job is now to get Anderlecht back on track following a poor start to the season and he is set to travel to link up with his new side soon.
They have been in Crete since Tuesday as part of a training camp during the World Cup and Riemer will like up with them there after signing a deal until 2024.
