On March 22nd, we relayed a claim from Italy that Brentford could make an attempt to sign Leece’s Morten Hjulmand as he would fit well into their transfer philosophy.
The 23-year-old was vital in helping Leece win the Serie B during the 2021/22 season and extended his impressive form into this season. It’s no surprise it has helped him draw interest from clubs in Italy and abroad. The Bees belong to the latter.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who state Brentford have joined Juventus, AS Roma, Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund in the chase for the midfielder.
With regards to Thomas Frank’s side, it’s stated they have been keen to sign the Denmark international in recent times.
Southampton, who were relegated from the Premier League, tabled a €13m bid to acquire his services in the winter market but it was turned down by Leece.
Hjulmand’s contract is until 2024, with an option to extend it for a year. The newspaper states his ‘starting price is €15m’ and the Italian club want it ‘to reach €20m’.
Gazzetta, however, don’t specify if Brentford are ready to meet the demands set by Leece to sign the Danish midfielder.
