São Paulo’s Igão has ended up on Brentford’s list for the summer window, according to a report from Brazil.

The 17-year-old is a product of São Paulo’s youth system and made his first team debut in December. He came off the bench in his side’s defeat to Botafogo and that’s been his only appearance for the senior team.

Brazilian journalist André Hernan, relayed by Bolavip Brasil, covers Brentford’s interest in the centre-back.

He claims Brentford want to sign the youngster and his situation at the Brazilian club may help them acquire his signature.

São Paulo manager Luis Zubeldía hasn’t included the defender in his core plans this year and the journalist indicates he could be sold.

Igão has been representing São Paulo U20 this season and managed to attract Brentford’s attention. According to Hernan, the Premier League club have contacted São Paulo to ask about his contract situation and asking price.

The teenager’s contract lasts until December 2026 and there’s no mention of his price tag.

Thomas Frank’s side haven’t yet made an official offer. The journalist adds Brentford could make an offer for Igão, considering he will turn 18 years of age in August. He can arrive in the UK next season, if the London club were to reach an agreement for his transfer.

As well as Brentford, other unnamed European clubs are keeping an eye on the defender.
