Amir Richardson struggled to impress at Fiorentina last season, and it’s now reported Sunderland and Brentford are keeping a close eye on his situation.
The midfielder joined the Italian side from Reims last summer and was seen as a replacement for the all-important Giacomo Bonaventura, but he scored only once in Serie A, playing just 1090 league minutes over the entire season.
Gianluca di Marzio reports the 23-year-old is a candidate to leave Fiorentina this summer and there’s interest from Sunderland and Brentford.
La Viola are currently preparing for a preseason training camp and the Moroccan will be part of it. New manager Stefano Pioli likes Richardson and will assess the midfielder’s situation carefully once the camp ends later this month. That will be vital to the player’s future.
This comes days after La Repubblica, as relayed by ViolaNews, had also reported interest from Sunderland and Brentford.
The newspaper claimed the final say on Richardson’s future will come down to Pioli, with the club having spent €9m to sign him last summer.
