The contract renewal of Roberto Firmino is again being ‘studied’ by Liverpool, according to claims from Brazil.
UOL writes that despite the late drop in the striker’s form, his recent turnaround with the Reds now raises his chances of staying at Anfield.
It’s claimed that Firmino now ‘waits’ for a new contract with Liverpool, ‘expecting’ a renewal for one or two years.
According to UOL, a long-term deal is not something considered by the Reds’ board.
Roberto Firmino’s current contract with Liverpool expires at the end of the season, which means that next month he’d already be able to sign a pre-contract with any club he wants. However, judging by this story, it sounds pretty much like his priority is to stay with Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Featuring for the Reds this season, Firmino has nine goals and four assists in 21 appearances, always holding a starting place in the team.
It took him just a few months to get closer to the stats from last season, when he only had 11 goals, and his irregularity was one of the reasons he was left out of Brazil’s squad for the World Cup.
