Bournemouth star Dean Huijsen is set to move to Real Madrid in the summer and his exit will leave the Cherries searching the market for a replacement.

Andoni Iraola’s side could now be hunting in Serie A to replace the former Juventus talent.

Mundo Deportivo report that Bournemouth have ‘set their sights’ on Lazio’s Spanish centre-back Mario Gila.

Like Huijsen, the 24-year-old defender was called up to the Spanish national side in March and this came on the back of some impressive performances for Lazio under manager Marco Baroni.

Bournemouth have already made enquiries for Gila, who has played over 40 times for the Rome side this season and has established himself as a key player for the club.

There is no mention of how much the Spaniard will cost the Cherries but Gila’s current contract at Lazio runs until 2027, so there’s no huge pressure on the Italian side.

Bournemouth will earn £50m from Huijsen’s sale to Real Madrid and that would be more than enough to sign his Spain teammate in the summer, especially if Lazio fail to qualify for the Champions League.
