Bournemouth striker Eli Junior Kroupi has admitted he’s looking forward to a reunion with Regis Le Bris when they take on Sunderland this weekend.
Le Telegramme have an interview with the Bournemouth man today. He discusses his situation, and the dream of playing in the Premier League.
The 19-year-old is currently flying after joining Bournemouth on a permanent basis. He’s quickly adapted to life in the English top flight with the Cherries.
It’s been an impressive start to life with Andoni Iraola’s side, who perhaps hadn’t expected as much given he was coming from Ligue 2. Kroupi, though, has been all about rapidly rising.
He started his senior career at just 16 years old at Lorient under current Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris. And Kroupi is looking forward to a reunion when Bournemouth take on Sunderland this weekend.
“I never would have imagined this, it’s wonderful, (but) we’re not on the same side this time,” he said, admitting Le Bris “threw him into the deep end” three years ago.
Scoring at the Stadium of Light would be another big moment for the youngster. Currently, only seven players have ever scored more goals than him after 12 games in the league.
There’s been big moments already for the youngster, including taking on Liverpool at Anfield. That was a moment he admits was like a dream.
“I was like a child entering a dream; it was truly wonderful for me, and for my parents too,” he added. The hope is that there’s more dream moments in future, but he’s not setting any specific goals.
“Football is my life. If I didn’t have it, I don’t know where I’d be today,” he concluded.
“I live my profession to the fullest because I don’t know when it might end. All I need are my boots, a ball, and my teammates.
“I have dreams, I have goals. But, for now, I’m not thinking about that, just about performing and helping my team, that’s all.”
