Brendan Rodgers and Celtic are set for a trip to Germany as they face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday.
BVB’s Marcel Sabitzer will be assessed ahead of the Celtic clash, according to Ruhr Nachrichten, relayed by Fussball News.
On Friday, the Bundesliga side sealed a 4-2 win over VfL Bochum. The midfielder missed this league tie due to an injury. Dortmund manager Nuri Şahin is hopeful of having the 30-year-old in his squad to face Celtic.
“He had slight problems. We hope and assume that he will be back on Tuesday,” he said, after the last tie.
The report adds Sabitzer’s involvement against Brendan Rodgers’ side will be decided after Monday’s final training session.
Meanwhile, the Austrian’s club teammate, Jamie Gittens, should be in contention to face Celtic.
The 20-year-old winger has impressed for Dortmund this season, scoring four goals and registering an assist from seven games.
The Englishman was seen sitting on the pitch in the second half against Bochum as he could no longer continue. He was replaced by Julien Duranville in the 66th minute.
Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has told Ruhr Nachrichten that there are no concerns with Gittens’ fitness.
“He had cramps, it shouldn’t be anything serious,” Kehl explained.
