Earlier on Monday, a report from Italy made it seem like Cristian Romero’s transfer from Atalanta to Tottenham was just around the corner.
TuttoMercatoWeb believed ‘only the last details’ were left to be sorted before the transfer went through, with Tottenham paying €50m up front with €7m in bonuses.
Of that €7m, €5m are seen to be easy, while the remaining €2m are related to trophies, and the player was reportedly getting ‘closer and closer’ to Tottenham.
Well, Calciomercato.it in Italy have more news on the matter, and while it doesn’t directly involve Spurs, it’s still highly promising for Fabio Paratici and co.
That’s because the website claim a meeting is expected to take place between Juventus and Atalanta ‘to discuss the transfer’ of Merih Demiral.
Should an agreement be reached, the Turkish defender would become the new player under Gian Piero Gasperini, and thus, ‘at the same time’, the Bergamo based side ‘would define the sale of Romero to Tottenham’.
So, the meeting taking place would suggests there is a need to replace the Argentine, who seems to truly be heading to Spurs.
