Bayer Leverkusen’s Granit Xhaka is of interest to a few clubs, including Sunderland and Neom SC.

Two days ago, journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported the Black Cats have offered him a three-year deal to the midfielder. He said they are negotiating with the German club for the transfer fee.

On Wednesday, Bild also reported Sunderland are in talks with Bayer Leverkusen over a move for the 32-year-old. Erik ten Hag’s side are said to have set a €20m price.

Tavolieri took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide the latest and it could come as encouragement for Sunderland.

He claims Neom’s negotiations are stalling because they are unwilling to offer more than €8m to the Bundesliga club. Therefore, the Saudi club are now out of the race for the Switzerland international.

The Premier League newcomers are a ‘clear option’ for the former Arsenal man, along with Fenerbahçe.

Tavolieri suspects the player could be using interest to drive up figures so that he can pick the best offer available to him. He also adds Xhaka staying at Bayer Leverkusen isn’t ruled out.
