Not too long ago, it was reported that Chelsea, after they failed to sign Michael Olise from Crystal Palace, had turned their attention to Bradley Barcola.
The young winger, currently at Lyon, has been a target for Paris Saint-Germain all summer, but it was believed the Blues could scupper their plans.
RMC Sport bring an update on the situation on Friday, as they report Barcola has now asked his club for a transfer this summer, which could be a boost for Chelsea.
The outlet do mention the Stamford Bridge side in their article, but make it clear they are currently starting from ‘further back’ than Paris Saint-Germain, who remain favourites to get the 20-year-old.
Barcola has ‘announced’ to both Laurent Blanc and those above him that he wants to leave Lyon, and would ideally want to head to the Ligue 1 champions, even if he doesn’t have an agreement with them yet.
He seems ‘determined’ to get his transfer, and Chelsea are said to be ‘keeping an eye on him’ for the time being.
As we all know by now, Todd Boehly could pull the trigger at any moment, and there’s no reason to rule out a late move from the American owner in the coming days if he feels Barcola could be of use to Mauricio Pochettino now or down the line.
