As things stand, Chelsea and Romelu Lukaku are in a very frustrating limbo, as they wait for Juventus to make their offer for the striker.
There’s no denying that the Turin side want the Belgian, but they have to get rid of Dusan Vlahovic first, who is likely to become a target for clubs once the merry-go-round of number nines kicks off.
That has yet to happen, though, and Corriere dello Sport dedicate a lot of column inches to the Chelsea player’s current situation.
They examine his latest social media posts in detail (we won’t do the same), before actually getting to the heart of the matter, which is that patience is key here.
In an ideal world, Max Allegri would have the current Chelsea forward in his squad by August 5th, which is when the team will be back to training in Italy after pre-season, but he also knows the matter is entirely out of his hands.
Lukaku, down his end, is ‘trembling’ as he awaits the ‘much desired breakthrough’, and Corriere dello Sport believe ‘it shouldn’t be long now’.
One of the reasons for that is Todd Boehly and Chelsea have changed their stance a bit regarding the Belgian, and have ‘slowed down their pressure’ when it comes to getting him to accept an offer from Saudi Arabia.
They have been told time and time again by the player that he isn’t interested, and has ‘no intention of leaving European football’ this season.
Therefore, they are giving him space, as they know that once everything kicks off and Dusan Vlahovic becomes a more important target for other clubs, Lukaku with be ‘Juve’s bang’ on the transfer market.
