Rennes defender Dimitri Kevin Cavare has been struggling to get enough playing time at the Ligue 1 club.
The 21-year-old has managed just over 100 minutes of football this season and has been linked with a move away from the club. According to French newspaper L’Equipe, Blackburn Rovers are keen on signing the French defender.
The Championship side are already in talks with Rennes over the possibility of Cavare arriving at Blackburn in January.
L’Equipe say Cavare is close to leaving the Ligue 1 side, but it still remains to be seen if Blackburn Rovers will be his next destination.
Rennes signed Cavare only last summer in a €3m deal from Lens, and he was sent back on loan to his old club last season. The player hasn’t made a league appearance yet for Rennes this season, and it’s quite clear he isn’t a part of Christian Gourcuff’s future plans at the club.
L’Equipe believe Cavare is ‘close to leaving’ his current club, and Blackburn are the only side said to be in talks to sign him.
