Blackburn Rovers have Montpellier’s Enzo Tchato on their transfer agenda for this summer.
Tony Mowbray had Ryan Alebiosu and Lewis Miller as the two recognised right-backs this season.
Alebiosu was the first choice as he played 40 matches for Blackburn Rovers this season. Miller, on the other hand, suffered a serious injury in February and will be out of action for most of this year.
The Championship side have to bring in a new right-back this summer and the position needs to be a priority if Alebiosu were to leave Ewood Park.
Blackburn Rovers did homework
The English club have been looking at the French market to strengthen their squad. Last month, Sport Witness relayed news of Blackburn Rovers’ firm interest in FC Nantes’ Yassine Benhattab.
From the same market, they have identified Enzo Tchato as a right-back target. That’s according to Africa Foot, who detail the plan for the player.
Blackburn Rovers are anticipating Ryan Alebiosu could leave this summer and are looking for his potential successor. This has led them to the France-born Cameroon international, and his profile is appealing.
His work rate and overall contribution, likely both on and off the pitch, is attractive to Tony Mowbray’s side.
The 23-year-old is a product of the Ligue 2 side’s youth system and made his way into the first team in 2022. He’s been a regular this season, playing 2,698 minutes from 34 matches, managing a goal and two assists.
Both the French club and the defender are in favour of his transfer if there’s a convincing offer.
Blackburn Rovers see Tchato as a ‘credible option’ for the right-back position. Should Alebiosu move elsewhere, the report claims the negotiations for the former could intensify rapidly.

Enzo Tchato’s contract runs down in 2027 and his value, as per Transfermarkt, is €2.5m.
