Blackburn Rovers could find themselves in a fight to keep hold of manager Jon Dahl Tomasson, with Feyenoord and PSV Eindhoven both interested in his signature.
That’s according to 1908.nl, who say the Danish manager is on both club’s shortlists as they look for new managers this summer.
Feyenoord are likely to be searching for a replacement for Arne Slot in the coming weeks, with him heavily linked to Tottenham, who appear to have put him at the top of their list to replace Antonio Conte.
That deal appears to be progressing quickly, with several reports over the last week or so making it clear they are pushing to hire the Dutchman and getting talks underway.
Feyenoord are more than aware that they could lose their coach, who led them to the Eredivisie title this season, and have drawn up an extensive list of possible replacements.
Blackburn Rovers boss Tomasson is on that shortlist, and not for the first time. He’s a club favourite after scoring 92 goals for the club over two spells as a player and they’ve kept track of his managerial career to date.
He’s been impressing with Blackburn, leading them to seventh in the table, and Feyenoord have already phoned to enquire about his status.
They’re not the only side in the Netherlands showing interest, though, with PSV Eindhoven having also ‘recently approached’ the Dane to see if he would be open to a move if Ruud van Nistelrooy departed.
That has now happened, with Van Nistelrooy resigning from PSV today amid reports that he had fallen out with several players in the squad, who’d asked for him to be removed.
That means PSV are now officially in the market for a new manager and, interestingly, Tomasson is ‘currently in the Netherlands’, meaning he could be available for talks as soon as possible.
His stance on the interest from both clubs isn’t mentioned, while it’s easy to assume Blackburn would be resistant to losing him, given he’s tied down to a deal until 2025.
The interest is there, though, nonetheless, with PSV and Feyenoord having already phoned ahead of stepping up their efforts to find new managers this summer.
