Earlier this week, Córdoba CF completed the signing of Jude Soonsup-Bell from Tottenham Hotspur.
The Spanish media have hyped up the 20-year-old’s arrival at Córdoba and reported they’ve secured a ‘very valuable’ signing. According to ABC, the Spanish club took him on a free transfer and Tottenham will be entitled to receive 40% of a future sale.
Córdoba CEO Antonio Fernández Monterrubio has been speaking to the media on various topics. He talked about the club’s decision to sign the forward from Tottenham and his comments are relayed by Diario Córdoba.
Soonsup-Bell joined Spurs from Chelsea in January 2023 and was part of their U21 side for the last 18 months. He managed 12 goals and eight assists last season.
Antonio Fernández Monterrubio claims data was one of the factors that convinced his side to bet on Soonsup-Bell. He has also suggested the negotiations, likely with Tottenham, took longer than expected.
“We have Big Data support, names had been detected, we wanted a young boy with those characteristics. It has been a fairly long operation,” he said.
The English attacker is a non-EU player for the Segunda División side, and the Córdoba CEO said his side have already started the process of registering him.
“He arrived in the city yesterday, a little acclimatising, with, of course, language problems. We have quite a lot of hope for him. Yesterday afternoon we began the procedures for registration, he’s not community-based [non-EU],” Antonio Fernández Monterrubio explained.
