Aston Villa are about to complete the signing of Red Star fullback Kosta Nedeljkovic, according to reports.
Calcio Mercato journalist Franceso Guerrieri claims the Villans have ‘picked up’ the player from the Serbian side.
It’s said Aston Villa are paying Red Star €7m for the deal, plus potential €2m in performance bonuses.
The Villans’ chase for Nedeljkovic had already been reported earlier this week, with the Serbian media making it clear there was a ‘rich offer’ on the way.
What may make Aston Villa fans confused about this story is that, earlier today, the very same Guerrieri had another report about the club negotiating for another Red Star player for that exact same fee.
That first story had been about striker Jovan Mijatovic. There, it was said Unai Emery’s side were in talks for a deal worth €7m plus €2m.
It turns out that Guerrieri has now deleted that first tweet, now making it clear the deal is for the full-back instead.
So it seems that was just a mistake from the Italian journalist, who has since rectified it with the correct information.
Aston Villa seem to be signing Nedeljkovic and are not in a battle with Manchester City for Mijatovic.
