Villarreal star Pau Torres has ‘received serious interest’ from Aston Villa and Juventus, according to AS.
The defender played under Unai Emery’s orders when the latter was in charge of the La Liga side. The manager is keen to reunite with him at Villa Park next season.
Emery is ‘determined’ to bring the 26-year-old to Aston Villa, but the option to join them isn’t the one that seduces him the most.
A potential deal for the Villans will depend on their coach’s capacity to convince the Spain international. He also has an option to join the Serie A side, who are willing to make a significant effort to secure his services.
Torres has a €50m release clause in his deal that expires in 2024. Both Aston Villa and Juve are ‘willing to pay’ the fee mentioned in the clause. It’s not ruled out that other clubs could join them in the transfer race.
Over at Sport, they say Emery’s side and the Old Lady are the two best placed clubs and will ‘bid hard for Pau Torres’.
It’s now down to the player to decide if he wants to join Juve or reunite with Emery at Aston Villa.
The third option would be to sign a new deal at Villarreal, but this isn’t the most feasible one because of his salary demands. His request could be fulfilled by Aston Villa or Juventus.
