For the past few days, various reports in Spain and Italy have indicated Barcelona are set to be Franck Kessie’s next destination. His current deal at AC Milan runs down in June and he’s refused to sign a new deal at the San Siro.
Three days ago, Calciomercato reported Aston Villa have shown interest in the 25-year-old, who will be available on a free transfer in the summer.
Steven Gerrard’s side wanting the midfielder is now discussed by Il Milanista. They explain the chances of the Ivory Coast international signing a new deal at the San Siro are ‘very low’.
Claims made elsewhere of Aston Villa’s interest in the Milan player has been relayed by Spain’s AS, who then share their own views on this case. Luis Suárez’s contract at Atlético Madrid expires after this season and he is also on Villa’s agenda.
If they ended up taking both the striker and Kessie, it will be ‘practically unfeasible’ to buy Philippe Coutinho, who is currently on loan at Villa Park from the La Liga side.
Xavi Hernández’s side are looking to get rid of Coutinho and also sign Kessie on a free transfer. If Villa were to take the latter and let the Brazilian return to the Camp Nou, it will be a ‘double problem’ for Barcelona.
