On Monday, Sport reported that Franck Kessié has received proposals from Arsenal and Everton, but those have not convinced him. It was also stated Barcelona have intensified talks to sign the AC Milan player in the summer.

The midfielder is out of contract in June and has refused to sign an extension with the  Rossoneri. This has allowed the La Liga side to make an approach for him, but they are now joined by Aston Villa.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who provide an update on the efforts made by Steven Gerrard’s side to acquire the 25-year-old’s services on a free transfer in the summer.

After reiterating the Ivory Coast international has refused to commit his future to the Serie A side, the report discusses the proposals he has received from abroad.

It’s claimed Barcelona are ‘on pole’ and their project appeals to the player. However, there isn’t anything ‘imminent’ to close the deal and their proposal is ‘not the most attractive’.

Kessié is handling an offer from England, ‘precisely from Aston Villa’ as Gerrard’s side have ‘presented very interesting’ arguments.

With Villa in the mix, the website states it is ‘normal’ that Kessié will take a ‘few more days to decide’ on his future because ‘then there will be no time for regrets, but we will have to dive body and soul into the new experience. We are close to the finish line’.
