As Leeds United are currently trying to find their new manager, others, who used to be contracted to the Elland Road club, watch what is happening from a distance.
Whether they do with a wry smile or not depends on their situation, but one man who appears rather glad to have left the Whites is Elia Caprile.
That’s because the goalkeeper, who was owned by Leeds up until the summer, was never really given a chance at Elland Road.
There’s a reason for that, and his name is Illan Meslier, and that’s why the young Italian decided to, after a successful loan at Pro Patria, return to Italy when Bari came knocking.
A deal was struck with the Serie B side that saw Caprile move for a rather small fee, but with the promise that Leeds would recuperate 50% of any future transfer fee.
That showed belief from Elland Road that the goalkeeper had some promise, and he has shown just why with great performances with his new side, and many see him as the best in his position in his league.
The player was interviewed by Sky Italia, relayed by Media Gol: “I don’t feel like B’s best goalkeeper. For me, the best is Turati, who deserves to first in the standings and is really strong. The other great goalkeeper is Poluzzi from Südtirol.
“Why the choice of Bari in the summer? They believed in me, I was lucky with this. Bari and sporting director Polito have believed in me.”
