Ajax are absolutely interested in a move for Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez this summer, but would prefer a loan move if they can do it.
That’s according to former Ajax coach Gervan der Lem, who has backed up claims that Sanchez’s former club want to bring him back.
Earlier this week, we covered a report from the Netherlands that stated Ajax were interested in Tottenham duo Toby Alderweireld and Sanchez this summer, with it reported that the Belgian was the more likely to happen.
That was picked up on by De Telegraaf journalist Mike Verweij, who confirmed the interest in the Tottenham defender.
He explained that Ajax were looking at a loan deal for the Colombian, with their finances having been hit hard by the Coronavirus pandemic.
Van der Lem has now added his voice to the growing chorus, confirming that he’s heard talk of a move for Sanchez in the corridors at Ajax.
“I have heard in the corridors that they want to bring him back. The question is on what basis,” he told NH Sportcafé, relayed by Ajax Showtime.
“In England, it is a purchase that does not work. Then they sell him for thirty per cent less; they don’t care.
“The best is if you can buy him, but if you can rent him, that’s of course great.”
