One man who is no longer at Leeds United but continues to make headlines about his time at the club is Elia Caprile.
The goalkeeper never featured for the Elland Road first-team during his spell there, but he promises to bring the Premier League side some money in the future thanks to a clever deal struck by Victor Orta.
Following a good loan at Pro Patria, the player caught the eye of Bari, who were willing to sign him, which they did for a paltry fee, only for Leeds to ensure they got 50% of a future transfer as well.
He has been a shining light for the Serie B this year, with many clubs in Serie A already looking at him for the future.
Not only that, but there is a firm belief that his time at Leeds was very important for him, as working with Marcelo Bielsa and his staff helped him become the player he is today.
That’s according to Marco Amelia, who was speaking to Goal Italia on Twitch for their show B Italian.
He said: “I’m convinced that he as the intelligent boy that he his, he was able to take in another way of playing football, in another league, as well as another way of experiencing football itself. This has probably affected his way of interpreting football and the role.
“He was part of a team like Leeds where Marcelo Bielsa was. He is a manager who makes the goalkeeper be very present when in possession of the ball.”
That suggests that without Bielsa, Caprile might not have been the goalkeeper he is today, and therefore might not have improved as much as he has done.
In turn, he wouldn’t be as exciting for Leeds’ future bank account balance thanks to that 50% sell-on clause.
Therefore, it appears the Argentinian manager’s time at the club continues to be a benefit for the club even if he and Caprile are no longer there.
