Juventus remain confident that Leeds United will decide to sign Weston McKennie on a permanent basis in the summer when his loan deal comes to an end.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who say the full transfer is still ‘a long way off’ at this moment in time.

McKennie joined Leeds on loan from Juventus in the January transfer window, with the Whites initially paying a €1.25m loan fee.

The deal includes an option for them to make the move a permanent one, although it was recently revealed that the clause was more of a gentleman’s agreement than anything binding.

That report made it clear that despite that it was looking likely he would move to Leeds on a permanent basis in the summer and CM back that up.

They state that McKennie’s time at Elland Road has been ‘steady’, proving to be an ‘important pawn’ in Javi Gracia’s plans despite some concerns about his fitness.

Leeds deciding to spend the €40m for a permanent transfer is still ‘a long way off’ but it remains a possibility that Juventus ‘can count on’ as they look to raise funds for the summer.

The feeling in Italy, at least, is that the American will be moving to England permanently at the end of the season, although Leeds are yet to commit to that operation as yet.
