Javi Gracia has been tasked with helping Leeds United finish this season outside the relegation zone and he started his Elland Road career with a 1-0 win over Southampton last month.
The Whites are 17th in the table and even though it’s not certain they will avoid the drop, reports elsewhere have started discussing their summer targets.
One of them is Inter Milan star Hakan Çalhanoğlu. That’s at least what InterLive.it are reporting, and they state the midfielder has received sirens from the Premier League.
Along with Gracia’s side, Newcastle United are also tagged. Given these clubs’ finances, Leeds and other mid-table Premier League sides could move for the 29-year-old in the summer.
There’s belief the Whites could offer around €25-30m for the Turkey international. Inter signed Çalhanoğlu for free in 2021 and his sale will result in an ‘abundant capital gain’ for them.
The player’s contract expires in 2024 and earlier today, Çalhanoğlu’s agent, Gordon Stipic, said his client is not in a hurry to sign an extension.
“We’re talking, we haven’t set a deadline but I have to be honest and I say there’s no pressure. There will be other meetings, no rush: Calha is happy, he’s happy with how he plays, with how he’s at Inter,” Stipic told TuttoMercatoweb.
