On Friday, Sky Italia stated Napoli and Fiorentina are keen on signing Aston Villa’s Nicolò Zaniolo in the summer.
Aston Villa took the winger on loan from Galatasaray, and are unlikely to keep him beyond this season.
Gazzetta dello Sport discuss Napoli’s interest in the 24-year-old, who wants to leave Aston Villa and ‘have fun’ elsewhere next season.
The Italy international and the Naples club have endured a difficult season, and both are looking to bounce back.
Zaniolo left Turkey for Aston Villa to try a new adventure in England, but it hasn’t gone well for him. He’s been restricted to a substitute role under Unai Emery this year and although he highly rates the manager, he isn’t pleased with the limited game time.
The former AS Roma man’s desire is to return to Italy, stay close to his family and make a difference on the pitch again. In short, he wants to ‘have fun’ back in Serie A.
Both Napoli and Fiorentina are at the window to secure the Aston Villa man’s services. The former are looking to appoint Juventus director Giovanni Manna as their next sporting director.
He tried signing Zaniolo for the Turin club and could back his arrival at Napoli, if he were to move there.
Gazzetta say there’s a feeling the talks could intensify in the coming months, considering Zaniolo is considered transferable for the Istanbul club and Aston Villa haven’t shown signs they want to keep him.
It’s claimed the Turkish club need a fee ‘around €20m’ to part ways with the attacker.
