Arsenal are in the picture to sign Juventus’ Weston McKennie, according to a report from Italy.
The Serie A side are looking to cut ties with the USMNT midfielder in the winter market and would not oppose a sale for an offer worth €30m [€20-25m plus bonuses].
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who state Arsenal are one of the two new suitors of the 24-year-old.
The north London club have joined Leeds United, who have made first contacts with the Turin club.
The ex-Schalke man isn’t in favour of joining the latter, but the same cannot be said about the Gunners.
It’s explained Arsenal’s attempt to sign McKennie will be successful if their initial survey is converted into a ‘concrete lunge’.
Mikel Arteta’s side are leading the Premier League table and their current situation would certainly be to the liking of the player.
Meanwhile, Calciomercato state the American’s agent is in London to find out more about the Elland Road offer.
If Jesse Marsch’s side want to sign him, they have to accelerate now to avoid competition from other clubs.
This is when the Gunners are mentioned as the report states there are talk of Arsenal’s interest in McKennie.
