Still only 19, Aster Vranckx has been talked about for quite some time now, such was the promise shown by the versatile midfielder during his early days at KV Mechelen.

A number of big clubs were after him, but it was Wolfsburg who provided him with the stepping stone in his career, as the German side, after a few months, finally got their first goals out of him.

Scoring two in the 4-1 win over Greuther Fürth in the Bundesliga on Sunday, Vranckx showed the world why he could move to a club like Chelsea in the future.

Why the Blues? Because he’s a big fan of the Stamford Bridge side, as explained by Bild on Monday, who look at what the past could have held and what the future could hold for the Belgian midfielder.

They explain that clubs such as Bayern Munich and Milan were interested a couple of years ago, but it was Wolfsburg who landed the strongest blow in July 2021 with a €6m move.

As Bild point out, the Bundesliga side ‘should only be a stopover’ in the player’s career, because ‘at some point, he wants to play for world clubs in England or Spain’, because Vranckx ‘is a big Real Madrid and Chelsea fan’.

With the words ‘Dream Chaser’ tattooed on his left forearm, the 19-year-old has plenty of time to get what he wants, and he’s certainly now starting to show why he might stand a chance of achieving it.
