Leicester City became the second team after Southampton to be relegated from the Premier League this season.
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s 76th minute goal at the King Power Stadium on Sunday helped Liverpool secure a 1-0 win over Leicester.
With this defeat, Leicester’s drop to the second division has been confirmed. They have 18 points from 33 games and are 16 points behind from 17th placed West Ham United with five games to go.
After the defeat to Arne Slot’s side, Victor Kristiansen spoke to Viaplay in Denmark and Tipsbladet have relayed his comments.
The left-back made 28 league starts this season and Ruud van Nistelrooy left him on the bench against the Reds. The Denmark international has expressed his disappointment upon the confirmation of the Foxes’ relegation.
“It’s really tough, it is. It’s terrible! Well, it’s been a tough season, there have been a lot of tough games and tough defeats. It’s clear that the relegation has been underway for some time, but it hurts. Yes, it’s a terrible feeling,” he said.
Despite Leicester’s struggles, the fullback has impressed, and the outlet points it out that it hasn’t gone unnoticed. He has a contract lasting until 2028 and Tipsbladet ask whether he will be with the English club next season.
“I think we have a fantastic club that has every opportunity to build something fantastic. Now it didn’t work out this year, but I’m sure we’ll be able to put something really good together for next season,” Kristiansen explained.
“Basically, I have a contract with Leicester, of course.”
This indicates the Dane would continue at the King Power Stadium, but that can change in the coming months, especially if there’s an offer that tempts Kristiansen and his club.
