Ronald Koeman made a huge impact at Barcelona, and is still remembered fondly by the Catalan press.
Joining in 1989, and leaving in 1995, Koeman won four league titles, the Copa del Rey, three Super Cups, and the old European Cup.
Taking over at Everton from Catalan manager Roberto Martinez only increased the interest in Koeman’s career, and Mundo Deportivo have a nice piece on him in their Tuesday edition.
It’s explained Everton are living a ‘dream’ start under Koeman, with Mundo Deportivo believing the club have had perhaps had the best start of all, relatively, in the Premier League.
Hull City may feel a little hard done to by that, but it’s certainly true that things are positive at Everton right now.
The Catalan newspaper make every care not to condescend Everton and say: ‘It is not that Everton is a modest club, but with Roberto Martinez in charge between 2013 and 2016, they did not meet expectations.’
Should Koeman excel at Everton over this season and the next then perhaps Everton fans should hope Luis Enrique stays where he is, because it only follows that the Dutchman would then be linked with Barca.
