Barcelona goalkeeper Neto is a potential target for Everton, although not at the top of their list at this moment in time.
That’s according to Sport, who say that the Catalan giants have not ruled out a move for the Brazilian goalkeeper this summer.
The newspaper explains that Barça are likely to release one of their goalkeepers this summer and both Neto and Iñaki Peña have options to leave the club.
While the Blaugrana have no need to sell, the reality is that both goalkeepers want ‘more of the limelight’, and there is interest, particularly in Neto.
Barcelona are willing to sell if there can get a ‘reasonable offer’, and his value is currently around €15m, a price Villarreal are unlikely to be able to pay. They would want a loan or a player exchange at best.
Neto would prefer Villarreal as he likes the project at the club and knows he would be a key player for the La Liga side, even if he would need to reduce his wages.
That is one of the options on the table for him, as well as Arsenal and Everton, although, for the moment, he is not the ‘first option’ that either club have on their list.
That suggests neither side is going to make a move any time soon, but there is plenty of time left for that to change.
