Two months ago, we covered claims from Spain which stated Barcelona and Real Madrid are in the picture for Nottingham Forest’s Murillo.

The centre-back is still at Nottingham Forest and earlier this week he signed a new deal until 2029.

Despite the defender’s renewal, the Spanish media continues to push Barcelona as an interested party.

Sport claim the 22-year-old is in the sights of several European clubs and they focus on the La Liga side.

Murillo has made 21 Premier League starts this season and missed the clash against Everton due to an injury.

The Brazilian’s performances for the Reds and his qualities are hailed. The report says he is one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League and is an ‘undisputed leader’ of his side’s defence.

Sport also state: ‘A guy with one of those personalities that you like, daring, brave and different from the rest. Undisputed leader.’

Murillo joined Nottingham Forest from Corinthians in August 2023 and the Catalan outlet states Barcelona have been handling reports about him since his time at the Brazilian club.

The La Liga side viewed him as a player for the future and then had other priorities, which could be why they didn’t make an approach for him before he joined Nottingham Forest.

Murillo’s renewal makes a potential deal for Barcelona or any other club much more complicated.
