Radio Marca on Thursday featured an interview with Southampton manager Ruben Selles.
The Saints boss is one of the six Spanish coaches in the Premier League, and is clearly glad to be part of that group.
One of the questions was about how Southampton prepare to face the ‘big’ clubs in English football, and he claims that similar work is done everywhere.
“We have a fairly cohesive coaching staff and when we play against United or Chelsea we study the opponent together, in a bar, having a drink,” Ruben Selles told Radio Marca.
By starting his career as a manager now, he claims he’s still figuring out how his style will be, especially because he’s doing that in the Premier League. He also claimed that on this point, he’s totally different from the other Spanish managers who are currently in English football.
“The profiles of the other Premier coaches are marked by their past career, mine is being discovered little by little.”
The manager also spoke about his life outside of work, insisting he likes to live different things on the day-to-day.
“I like to change the environment, that you can have a beer with someone and see them with different clothes than when they play or compete.”
Selles had already been assistant and interim coach a few times at Southampton, and took this current job following the departure of Nathan Jones in February this year.
Under his watch, the Saints have had seven games, with two wins, two draws and two losses.
