Manchester City will be in the market looking for a new striker in the summer, especially since they decided not to bring in a new No.9 last summer, after Sergio Agüero left them as a free agent.

The Citizens are one of the clubs regularly named as a contender for Erling Haaland.

Last month, AS reported Pep Guardiola has ‘asked’ the Premier League champions to make an effort for the Borussia Dortmund star in the summer.

On Thursday, Mundo Deportivo reported City will be Barcelona’s ‘great opponent’ in the race to sign the Norway international.

Claims made by Mundo are relayed by Sport on Friday. They state that apart from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, Barca will face competition from Guardiola’s side.

The English champions’ interest in the 21-year-old is not new as the report explains they ‘tried to sign’ him last summer.

Haaland is represented by Mino Raiola and the super-agent’s relationship with Guardiola ‘is bad’, according to Sport.

Therefore, it’s claimed the Etihad club had banned signing any players managed by the Dutch-Italian representative.

Sport now claim Manchester City are ready to change their stance and the ‘ban will be lifted’, all to make a Haaland deal possible.
