Abel Hernandez can be paired with Middlesbrough’s Gaston Ramirez, in that they’re both represented by Pablo Betancour. The Uruguayan attackers are forever involved in transfer rumours, with little care as to whether a club is annoyed or not.
In reality, to this point it’s not really helped either of their careers given that both are very talented footballers and both currently in the Championship.
Last summer Hernandez was strongly linked with a move to Aston Villa, but the transfer broke down over terms with the player’s agent. Then in November and December of last year, it was reported by Italy’s TuttoMercatoWeb that Villa had returned, with Steve Bruce said to be very keen.
This summer already, Ramirez has seen a transfer to Real Betis fail, with the local Sevilla media blaming his agent, and the agent publicly blaming Middlesbrough.
Hernandez links were obviously next on the agenda, and like often happens, TuttoMercatoWeb ran an exclusive on the Hull City player being close to Aston Villa.
Villa have shut it down, with Tony Xia saying: “Never will happen after last summer. Good for us.”
That should stop Aston Villa being used. Unfortunately for Middlesbrough and Hull City, they can’t walk away from the Uruguayan transfer games so easily.
