On January 3rd, Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Carlo Laudisa stated that Aston Villa have made contact with Juventus over a deal for Weston Mckennie in the winter market.
A day later, Gianluca Di Marzio explained the Villans are keen to sign the midfielder and he could leave the Serie A side, if they were to receive a suitable offer.
Fast forward to Monday and Corriere Torino detail Aston Villa’s interest in the midfielder in a report that discuss the Old Lady’s plans for January.
The Turin club are only after sales in this window and some of their players have received more requests, while others could be an opportunity for them. The USMNT midfielder falls into the former category as he is wanted by Unai Emery’s side.
Juventus are demanding at least €30m for the former Schalke man and Aston Villa ‘would have satisfied’ their request.
However, the American ‘resists Aston Villa’ and has said ‘no’ to them.
That’s because he doesn’t want a rich salary and asks for a winning project, which the Villans cannot offer at the moment.
Mckennie is also in the sights of a few top clubs. If these sides were to submit the right offer, he could be sold in January.
