Aston Villa’s Leander Dendoncker is ‘looking for redemption’ with his loan move to Napoli this month.

That’s according to Corriere del Mezzogiorno, relayed by Area Napoli, who believe the Belgian could be ready to hit the ground running in Naples.

Dendoncker is on the verge of completing a loan move to Napoli this week after the Italian champions made a surprise move to sign him.

They’ve quickly worked out a loan deal with Aston Villa that includes a purchase option should things go well, and the deal has been rapidly progressing from there, with Napoli keen to have the midfielder in their squad for the upcoming clash with Lazio.

Area Napoli cover the transfer today and explain Dendoncker ‘can’t wait’ to get going at his new club, having enthusiastically accepted the opportunity to leave Aston Cilla temporarily.

He’ll be at Castel Volturno today and will be called up for the game against Lazio, with it even possible he starts that game given the ‘great emergency at Napoli at present.

And there’s plenty of optimism about the move from Aston Villa too, with Corriere del Mezzogiorno sharing some of that in their coverage today.

“Dendoncker is a profile looking for redemption like Traorè,” they wrote.

“Not unlike the Ivorian he already has the match pace in his legs, between today and tomorrow he will be available to Mazzarri who, given the emergency, could already consider him a precious resource for the match on Sunday in Rome against Lazio”.
