On Thursday, we covered claims from Belgium that Anderlecht and Las Palmas want Aston Villa’s Leander Dendoncker. It was also stated the La Liga side have made a serious offer to sign him on a loan deal.
The 28-year-old’s wages has been a concern for Las Palmas, who have until midnight to sign him.
Het Laatste Nieuws say there’s another factor that would make it difficult for Las Palmas to sign the Aston Villa player.
The Belgium international is a product of Anderlecht’s academy and spent six years with their first team, before moving to Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2019. He joined Aston Villa in 2022, and his game time has been limited under Unai Emery.
Dendoncker can no longer have a prominent role at Aston Villa and needs to leave them for a club where he can enjoy regular minutes.
HLN mentions Las Palmas’ interest, but he wants to return to his former club. Their title reads: ‘Discussions in full swing: Leander Dendoncker is keen to return to Anderlecht’.
Anderlecht will have to wait to find out if a new club makes an attempt to sign him today. The window in England and Spain closes today, while deadline day in Belgium is on September 6th.
If Dendoncker is at Villa Park tomorrow, Anderlecht could sign him on favourable terms.
