Over the past few days, several claims from the Italian media have stated that Juventus are keen to sign Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz, but they aren’t willing to pay his market value.
Last week, Aston Villa director Monchi made a trip to Turin, where it’s claimed he offered the 26-year-old to the Serie A side, and he asked about Weston McKennie. The 25-year-old American could be part of the deal for the Brazil international.
The Serie A side are in ‘continuous contacts’ with Aston Villa to try to find an agreement a deal involving Luiz.
That’s according to Sky Italia, who say the ‘last few hours could have been decisive’ for Luiz to join the Italian club.
Meanwhile, the report says Aston Villa’s ‘requests are clear’. They want the former Leeds United man, Samuel Iling-Junior and €20m in cash for the South American, while the Old Lady are hoping to convince Unai Emery’s side to lower the €20m request.
Despite this, the website says the ‘parties are closer’, indicating that the two clubs seem optimistic of making progress in this operation involving Luiz, McKennie and the 20-year-old Englishman.
McKennie and Iling-Junior have contracts expiring in 2025.
As we’ve stated before, the Italian slants of this deal make it sound very weighted towards Juventus and not a great deal for Aston Villa.
