On January 11th, Foot Mercato stated Aston Villa are ready to make the first offer to sign Marseille’s Mattéo Guendouzi in the winter market.
Two days later, L’Equipe explained the Villans have started concrete talks with the 23-year-old’s entourage over a potential move.
Earlier this week, reports from France said the midfielder hesitates to join Aston Villa as it is not a transfer that makes him dream.
The France international scored in Marseille’s Coupe de France win over Rennes on Friday. A fresh report from L’Equipe states Guendouzi knows that he ‘may be playing his last matches’ with the Ligue 1 side because he continues to be courted by Unai Emery’s side.
It’s claimed the Premier League club have made a ‘fabulous offer’, the details of Aston Villa’s proposal are not mentioned in the report.
Should Emery and the Villans want to sign Guendouzi, they have to act fast as there’s only just over a week left in the January window.
Guendouzi previously played under Emery when the pair were at Arsenal and the pair would reunite if his move to Villa Park were to materialise.
