Last month, we covered claims from Mexico that Aston Villa are chasing César Huerta, and he could leave Mexican side Club Universidad Nacional, commonly known as Pumas UNAM, in the summer window.
Infobae now bring the Premier League side back into the fold when discussing the 23-year-old’s future options.
It’s explained that Aston Villa, Lazio, OGC Nice and Girona are the four clubs interested in securing his services.
The Mexico international has scored 11 goals and registered nine assists from 37 games in the 2023/24 season.
The report says several clubs have asked about his price tag after watching him closely in action for UNAM. It’s not made clear whether Aston Villa are one of those to have made contact.
Huerta hasn’t yet received a formal offer, and there could be ‘something official in the coming weeks’, indicating that Unai Emery’s side or another club could make an offer for him.
The winger is valued [as per Transfermarkt] at $5m [£3.9m], and Infobae say European clubs, including Aston Villa, would pay this fee ‘without any problem’.
Lazio are the most advanced team in the negotiations, and therefore, the Villans have to step up if they want to sign Huerta this summer.
