It seems Aston Villa will soon have a new chance to sign Matteo Guendouzi from Marseille.
Back in the January transfer window, it was heavily reported by the French media that Unai Emery’s side were chasing the midfielder, with recent claims even claiming he turned down a contract from the Premier League club.
Guendouzi may have stayed at Maseille back then, but he’s actually set to leave the club in the summer, according to the latest reports from the local press.
Foot Mercato says the Ligue 1 club already agreed to let him go in the next transfer window. Those claims are relayed by Daniel Riolo on RMC: “He will probably leave at the end of the season and the deal must be almost in the pipeline. I actually have the impression that he has become a substitute.”
Covering all those claims above, Le10Sport recall the Aston Villa rumour, pointing out that Guendouzi’s exit from Marseille in January had been ‘more or less in the air’.
Now the French side already made other signings for midfield, and that’s seen as ‘a clear element of confirmation’ that they could let the former Arsenal player go in the summer.
It’s not said how much Aston Villa would have to pay this time. On Transfermarkt, Guendouzi is valued at €25m.
