Aston Villa midfielder Philippe Coutinho could be announced by Vasco da Gama today, according to reports from Brazil.
TNT Sports writes that the Rio de Janeiro side are now only waiting for a document from the Premier League club so they can make the deal official.
As soon as Aston Villa send the file, the transfer is done, and Vasco are hopeful that can all be sorted out on Tuesday so they can announce the move.
Coutinho is expected to arrive on a loan deal. Even though initial reports said he would rescind his contract with the Villans, that possibility is now ruled out.
The midfielder still has a contract with Aston Villa running until 2026, so a good spell at Vasco could raise the possibilities of a sale next summer. That said, he appears to be putting down roots there already, having bought a shopping mall, so it may be a case of another loan or contract recision in the future.
The Brazilian spent last season on loan at Al-Duhail, and reports claimed that the Qatari side wanted to keep him, but he chose to move to Brazil instead.
Coutinho will now be playing for his childhood club, hopeful that can bring him back to the national team.
