Aston Villa, Everton and Brentford are in contention to sign Atlético Madrid’s Rodrigo De Paul in the summer, according to InterLive.it.

The report focuses on Inter Milan and AC Milan wanting the midfielder, who has not impressed since he joined the La Liga side from Udinese in 2021. He’s also not overly liked by Diego Simeone.

The World Cup winner is one of the candidates to leave the Madrid club after this season. When discussing his suitors, Aston Villa, Everton and Brentford are mentioned.

It’s said the Premier League trio are after the Argentina international and a fee of around €30m is needed to convince Los Rojiblancos to sanction his sale in the next window.

The fee may not be a concern for the likes of Aston Villa, Everton and Brentford, but they will have to convince the 28-year-old for the transfer first. That won’t be easy because he hasn’t ruled out returning to Italy.

De Paul is keen to play in the Champions League and therefore could favour a big team in Serie A over rich offers from England.

Inter failed signing him in January and would make a new attempt after this season. Milan could make an attempt to sign the World Cup winner on loan with a €30m option to buy.

Should Simeone continue at Atlético, they will say yes to the South American’s sale if there’s a €30m bid meaning Aston Villa, Everton and Brentford would stand a chance at signing De Paul, as long as they can convince him to join them.
