There’s been multiple Spanish claims this month on Aston Villa’s interest in Real Betis’ Jesús Rodríguez.

At the weekend, ABC Sevilla reported Unai Emery has told Monchi and Damian Vidagany to sign the winger for Aston Villa. Como are also in the picture and their manager, Cesc Fàbregas, is said to have spoken with the player directly.

Monday’s edition of AS states several clubs are chasing the 19-year-old and among these, Aston Villa and Como have been ‘most keen’.

Emery and Fàbregas are convinced the Spain U21 international can contribute to their respective projects at Aston Villa and Como. Therefore, both the Villans and the Serie A club are ‘accelerating’ to sign him.

Following Spain’s elimination from the U21 Euros, AS say the battle for Rodríguez could soon come to an end. He wants to sort out his future ‘as soon as possible’, to know when and where he has to start pre-season.

Real Betis are willing to sanction a move if the attacker requests a transfer. The report states the starting price is around €30-35m to open negotiations, after earlier receiving offers of around €25m.

Rodríguez is a product of their academy, and the La Liga club can secure a significant capital gain from his sale.

Manuel Pellegrini is in regular contact with the Spanish club’s leaders over reshaping his squad. AS state the manager is aware of the possibility of losing Rodríguez to improve the club’s finances.

Therefore, the Chilean ‘won’t be a deterrent when it comes to letting Jesús Rodríguez go’ this summer.
