Aston Villa are willing to pay €35m to sign Samu Omorodion from Atlético de Madrid and have opened negotiations to do so.
That’s according to El Desmarque, who report that Aston Villa are moving for the striker after his failed move to Chelsea.
They explain that after the debacle surrounding Omorodion’s potential sale to Chelsea, the Spanish club are now moving forwards with a sale to Aston Villa instead.
The Villans have reportedly made it clear that they would be willing to pay €35m to sign Omorodion. That’s the same figure Atlético de Madrid were asking for from Chelsea.
The Blues eventually offered €40m in a deal that would have involved Conor Gallagher going the other way. Unfortunately, it collapsed despite the striker completing a medical.
Atlético de Madrid and Chelsea then negotiated a deal for Joao Félix instead, with Omorodion returning to training under Diego Simeone.
Clubs such as Real Sociedad and West Ham had made moves since, but it is now Aston Villa who have ‘accelerated’ to sign the striker.
The player is a favourite of director of football Monchi and Unai Emery to reinforce their squad as they get ready to compete in the Champions League this season.
