Over the past few days, claims from the English press stated Aston Villa are keeping tabs on Tottenham Hotspur’s Giovani Lo Celso, who is currently on loan at Villarreal.
This is now backed up by TyC Sports, who then provide more updates about the Villans wanting the midfielder in the summer.
The Tottenham owned player initially joined the La Liga side on loan in January 2022 and his stay there was extended last summer. This was done when the current Aston Villa manager, Unai Emery, was in charge at Villarreal.
Emery has also managed the 27-year-old at Paris Saint-Germain, and he seems to be looking to reunite with the Argentina international at Villa Park next season.
Aston Villa have been following Lo Celso for a ‘long time’ and they have carried out some ‘informal polls’ for him. It’s claimed Emery’s side have ‘assured they will make a formal offer’ to buy him, but that hasn’t happened so far.
The South American will have to return to Tottenham after his loan spell at Villarreal. He has a contract there until 2024 and Aston Villa would have to negotiate a deal with Spurs, if they want to reunite Lo Celso and Emery next season.
