Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Rafa Mir would be the ‘ideal striker’ for Sevilla this summer as they look to bolster their forward line.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who carry a report on how AI has determined the Wolves man is the perfect signing for the Spanish side.

They explain that Sevilla are ‘looking for a striker’ before the start of the season as Julen Lopetegui wants to restructure his attack for the new campaign.

Finding an ideal target is difficult given the options available and so using AI makes sense as that is the only thing capable of ‘contextualising a player’ in a new environment by using data.

Data firm Olocip has carried out such an analysis that uses not only qualitative analysis of actions but also a quantitative one as well. In other words, they’ve run the numbers quite thoroughly.

And it appears that Mir should be at the top of the list, with Estadio Deportivo stating that he and Alaves forward Joselu were the ‘ideal striker’ according to the data.

Why that’s the case isn’t mentioned, but it appears whatever numbers the Wolves striker posted last season tallied perfectly with those from Sevilla to make him the perfect match.

Whether Sevilla are aware of this isn’t mentioned, but we’re sure they are as numerous reports in Spain have labelled them as interested.

Indeed, they are also reportedly pursuing a deal for Joselu, so there’s every chance they could change tact and go for Mir in the near future as well.
