It’s been a week since Arsenal’s interest in Benfica striker Darwin Nunez started making noise in the European media. First with the English and then with the Portuguese media reporting it, the Gunners are now considered one of the big candidates to land the player this summer.

Now as newspaper A Bola features a piece presenting all the clubs who’ve been interested in the 22-year-old, Mikel Arteta’s side once again features in that list.

It’s said Arsenal are one of the clubs who have Darwin ‘referenced’ and been following him ‘with most insistence’.

The Gunners, however, now face heavy competition from the likes of Inter Milan, Manchester United, Milan, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.

We’ve seen many recent stories from the Portuguese media claiming Benfica would demand €80m to let Darwin Nunez move this summer, and A Bola’s information is a little different.

They say the Eagles, who have the striker protected by a €150m release clause, shall start their requests at €60m. Now the club obviously want to make as much money as possible with the sale, and will use the competition to achieve that.

Whether Arsenal feel the price is right remains to be seen.
